Good morning Charles! I have the annual subscription for $80. Do I need to pick one of the options above? I have no problem doing that, but I just wanted to double check. And, good to know about the endowment price change. The $450 default is a little too high for many. From time to time, I like to support writers with an unexpected contribution, but $450 makes me think twice about it! 😁 I like the $150 option, that’s a lot more manageable!
An edit to my previous reply: There also should be an "Upgrade" button. Here is Substack's explainer on how it works:
"If you upgrade your subscription plan from annual to founding member, you'll be charged a prorated amount, and your renewal date will change to the date you made the upgrade. You'll receive a payment receipt email showing the pro-rated amount. The renewal date will not stay the same as the original date for the annual plan. For example, if it's January 8th, 2024, and you change your plan to founding member, your next renewal date will be January 8th, 2025.
This scenario shows what could happen if you upgrade your annual plan ($100) to a founding member ($200):
If you purchase an annual plan on January 1st and immediately upgrade to a founding membership, you'll be charged an additional $100.00 to upgrade.
If you upgrade on July 1, you'll be charged $150.00.
If you upgrade on December 31, you'll be charged $200.00."
Good morning, Vida. Your support of writers like me is amazing. Thank you for that. Since you're already subscribed at 80, you're set until that expires. I'm on a phone right now so I'm not sure how to check on the app when yours expires.
The 450 was such a random number. I put it in when I started this thing, not really knowing what I was doing. The 150 is a suggestion. It can be any amount over 80.
I also have a Ko-fi account for people who want to avoid subscriptions or just want to add more to their already extreme generosity. I'm not sure that link is on this page, but this is it for anyone interested:
Hi Charles! 👋🏽 I never heard of a Ko-fi account. We learn something everyday! 😁 BTW, just write what you love to write. You should enjoy what you do. I think Substack may have made changes to the subscription options because I don’t think you had the ability to change the $450 default in the past. I tried many times, but I wasn’t able to. I’m glad to hear there’s more flexibility. This is good news! 🙂
Thank you for this info! I’ll need to experiment one of these days to see if it works the way this person says it works. The season of giving is just around the corner! Timely information! 😁

It's possible that when I changed it to $150 I changed the setting to allow the reader to change it, too. I honestly can't remember. :-)
Thanks, Vida! Your encouraging words always help motivate me:-)

Loved the dance!
Me too. And 25 million others. :-) That's how many views it has.
