Charles always gets an A+ for deep research wrapped into creative writing. He even thoughtfully used and credited the evil AI monster: “AI can make mistakes, so double-check responses.” Thank you Gemini. I don’t consider Gemini my brain’s twin, I resent the name. Maybe their disclaimer should read: “AI is a mistake, so triple-check responses. Better yet, save time and do your own research. It enriches your neurons.”

Thanks, Michael. I used Claude to write this list of trump crimes:

I don't trust AI, so the fact checking was laborious, but I also can confidently say I wouldn't have tried to tackle that post on my own.

Generally, I trust my instincts better for research "guidance." But for people who don't, or those with very technical subjects, I can understand using it. The cross checking is essential, though, as people who find themselves out of work for not doing so are discovering.

The browser I use, Opera, has an AI interface called Aria. However, unlike other browsers you have to a) enable it and b) specifically invoke it if you want to use it. My instinct tells me it's more reliable than Gemini and it's certainly not tangled up with all your apps. It cites a similar disclaimer, but I've used it frequently, especially for internet searches. It's made three mistakes in the hundreds of times I've used it. It always gives references and links. I've found it genuinely useful and it's the only AI I use. My brother's been using ChatGPT and a few days ago we both looked up the same thing. ChatGPT made numerous errors, have incorrect information twice and took twice as long to do it. This was the free version of ChatGPT, the pair version is, surprise, surprise, purported to be significantly better, but why pay, Aria is free. It's recommend it. Of course your have to switch to Opera as your browser, but I've found Opera to be easily one of the best browsers available. I swear, I have no interest, stake of any kind or shares in Opera and no connexion, either casual or official, with Opera, it's my honest opinion. And of course you're entirely at liberty to ignore my recommendation 😊.

Opera is an old classic! :-) I forgot all about it.
