I would like to point out that it was Bill Clinton's telecommunications act that made the media consolidation possible. It was one of the worst pieces of legislation ever passed, creating the conglomerations we see today, eliminating a large number of independent voices, and pushing broadcasters across the country out of business and out of jobs. Having said that, Hillary was right.
Thanks for that comment. Unfortunately, Clinton's presidency was a reaction to the Reagan phenomenon, and not in a good way. The whole Democratic Leadership Council of that era that shifted Democratic politics to the right was abysmal. I could probably write an epic on that, but I'd rather not, lol.
Charles, You called that Democratic Party policy shift under Clinton to the right correct. The whole country started drifting that direction under Reagan. What I’ve always found ironic was of the dozen Democrats that started out in the 1992 primaries, Bill Clinton’s policies were the ones furthest to the right, and Newt Gingrich still attacked those as being far left liberal. I can only imagine the heat other Democratic candidates could have received if one of them had ended up in the Oval Office.
And for the record, my wife’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookies use butter, not (probably hydrogenated soybean oil based and artery choking) shortening. A recipe adapted from a friend’s elderly Maryland Eastern Shore grandmother. Professionally accomplished, doctorate degreed, published and internationally cited, mother of many cats, and a hell of a great cook.
They are. Huge globs of old fashion oats and gooey chocolate chips. Lots of brown sugar and brown sugar. She also bakes a variation with white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts.
Charles Bastille…. Way to go! Fascinating writing. Hillary—
I just saw her last nite on Lawrence O’Donnell. Comfortable as I have ever seen her. This terrific piece on her does her story justice. Thank God Harris is her peer because God knows she was robbed of her destiny (apparently not, though).
She seems very happy, indeed, about Kamala’s fortune. Thanks for a great read. Your reports are so interesting!
Thank you! I can imagine Hillary will feel somewhat vindicated if Kamala wins. I know she’s getting up there a bit in years, but she seems healthy. Maybe she’d like to sit in the AG chair for a couple years and oversee a few hundred MAGA prosecutions.
Hillary was right. Not the best candidate in terms of handling what was unjustly thrown at her. She would have been a very able bureaucrat. Quite likely and outstanding President. We fucked up. Well, I didn't. I voted for her. We know who fucked up. I still blame Reagan more.
Pulled quotes: “Newt Gingrich’s Wuhan lab of political viruses.” “Trump doubled down after he lost the election and began to collect federal indictments like Clarence Thomas collects vacation gifts.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks! And, oh my, those cookies sound great! :-)

Stop that. Now you’re just being cruel. See? Watching all that MAGA stuff is rubbing off on you! :-)
