It's Banned Books Week in America
Find a banned book, save it if you can
Apologies for two emails in one day. It’s not normally my thing. This will be short.
I meant to send a post regarding this topic Monday, but got sidetracked.
This week (October 5-11) is Banned Books Week. One little organization that is no longer so little is doing its part to fight back against book bans.
The Little Free Library is a group that helps establish mini libraries in neighborhoods throughout the United States.
There are about 200,000 of them, so there’s a good chance you’ve seen one. You can easily start your own by going here. You can also see if there are some in your neighborhood by using this map (there probably are).
You can even make your own:

The banned book map
The Little Free Library has collaborated with PEN America and the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom to create an interactive map of banned books, with a focus on problem areas:

One of the best ways to fight back if you live in a location where conservatives have banned books is to create a Little Free Library and fill it up with banned books. There’s nothing they can do to stop you.
How are you celebrating Banned Books Week?
Me? I think I’ll just write a book that I know would be banned. Oh, wait. I think I already have.
Thanks for reading!

What a great idea, Charles. Thank you for spreading the word.
Good info! You’re such a rebel…write a book you know will be banned. 😂😂 I love it.
