I believe you. it’s also true that Paul Revere probably never said “the British are coming” because they were all British. It is a fact that they were stealing the land and murdering the indigenous people who actually tried to help them. But the Declaration of Independence itself contains the concepts that we are fighting for now.
Your idea is original and interesting. I am just not ready for it at the moment. That won’t prevent me from buying a copy so that I have it when I am ready.

The U.S. today, still, fundamentally, is about that original document, the Declaration of Independence. That’s been the beauty of all these protests. 15,000 of them now just since the inauguration, according to one study. The people haven’t forgotten what the country is supposed to be about.
