I like how the protagonist finagled a future kiss by mentioning baseball bats. Can't blame a besotted guy for trying.
Love this line in particular. What an image to conjure:
“We have a smoking gun in a room with one person in it,” she quipped."
These two characters are doing such a wild, yet restrained, mating dance that the reader is left saying. "Get a room! Soon! Please!" lol
