Good point about the cult-like elevation of a skin type prone to an unhealthy complexion, which has often struck me as odd too. As someone once wrote, there is no such thing as the white race, only the pinko-grey race. (To which one may add that the ancient Romans, though 'coded as white' to use the contemporary jargon, normally held the most desirable shade to be 'inter negrum et pallidum,' which in free translation means neither too black nor too white but just right. Of course, such a prejudice might well have come naturally to a Mediterranean people.)

That, and I tend to have more patience for the ancients, since they had so little information. Everything out of the ordinary for them was enough to freak them out and invent a god or something to explain it all. I'm surprised they didn't come up with a god for skin tones.

Test, to see who's paying attention!

At least it only happened on one of the five or so references (if you include footnotes). Did I know a Scott Richardson at one point in my life? Maybe! I ain't telling! :-)

Great article Charles. I have a question I'm going to propose to AI. Curious if registering as a foreign agent was required for the recent meeting in Russia by Jared….

Good question. With this crew, it obviously doesn't matter.

Exactly! DOJ handles the application. AI indicated it's a gray area; the application isn't that difficult, either, just mundane follow-up reporting is the kicker.
