The email address in the subhead of this post is for Nexstar’s Gary Weitman. Send him a missive and let him know what you think about his company cancelling Jimmy Kimmel for telling a combination of jokes and the truth.
I guess we need to start thinking more like Republicans.
Instead of saying someone is the enemy of the state, we need a list of enemies of the people.
Here’s one.
Gary Weitman
He is Executive Vice President and Chief Communication Officer of Nexstar, the company that began the process of stripping Jimmy Kimmel’s free speech rights by following orders from Brendan Carr, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission of the United States, who threatened to pull Nexstar’s broadcasting licenses.
To be clear, that is what makes this a First Amendment issue. A private company can throttle whoever it wants, but if it does so at the behest of a government employee, it becomes a First Amendment violation. If we didn’t have a Supreme Court also owned by the Right Wing (The Federalist Society), this issue could be fixed in a day.

Weitman gained a master’s in journalism from Northwestern University, so it’s not like he shouldn’t know better. He has an education. He should know something about the First Amendment.
Weitman proudly wrote the following press release:1
Company Objects to Talk Show Host’s Comments on Killing of Charlie Kirk
IRVING, TX (Sept. 17, 2025)—Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), today announced that the company’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for the foreseeable future beginning with tonight’s show. Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.
“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” said Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division. “Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”
My post is not a doxxing campaign (I’m not a fan of doxxing). He invites you to contact him in the press release:
I really think you should do so.
In the meantime, ABC is owned by The Walt Disney Company.
A proper boycott of ABC means boycotting ESPN and other Disney-owned companies, as well as the Star Wars and Marvel Comics brands. The list goes on.
This doesn’t seem realistic to me, but we need to find a way to show our displeasure.
If you want visibility on this vital issue, restack this post so others do the same — especially if you don’t feel like sending the email yourself.
Sinclair demands an apology
Sinclair, the far-right media company that owns or operates 294 television stations in the United States, not to be outdone, issued its own press release:2
Sinclair’s ABC stations to air a special in remembrance of Charlie Kirk during Jimmy Kimmel Live timeslot on Friday
BALTIMORE – Sinclair, the nation’s largest ABC affiliate group, objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
As discussed with ABC earlier today, Sinclair decided to indefinitely preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” beginning tonight. Following these discussions, ABC has suspended production of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,” said Vice Chairman Jason Smith. “We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities.
My comment: You mean you think right-wing broadcasters have a responsibility to foist the pedoführer’s propaganda, do you not?
We appreciate FCC Chairman Carr’s remarks today and this incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address control held over local broadcasters by the big national networks.”
My comment: I’m sure you do.
Sinclair’s ABC stations will air a special in remembrance of Charlie Kirk this Friday, during Jimmy Kimmel Live’s timeslot. The special will also air across all Sinclair stations this weekend. In addition, Sinclair is offering the special to all ABC affiliates across the country.
My comment: We’re calling the show, All Hail Racism and Misogyny: The Life and Times of Charlie Kirk
Sinclair will not lift the suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.
Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family.
My Comment: Jimmy’s apology should look like this: “We’re sorry that your husband and father was such an inglorious racist and Christo-Nationalist. The kids deserved so much better.”
Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.
Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform.

The right wing is in full control of mainstream media. They’re even issuing press releases telling you to jump onto the fascist train, or else.
I realize the contact info only involves PR people. But they don’t need to work for fascism. And you gotta start somewhere. Encourage them to make their own stand for free speech. They’ll embellish their resume big time if they do the right thing for once.
Notes
I sent a Substack Note about this, but it needs more traction. Crushing free speech is the first step in authoritarianism. Disappearing you is next. Restack this. It’s important.
I guess the regime took my earlier post about the First Amendment being overrated to heart. The point of that post was that Americans don’t deserve something as cool as the First Amendment. Prove me wrong.
Here are the “offending” comments from Kimmel:
Please don’t threaten these people if you write to them. We’re in trouble as a nation, but not in so much trouble that we need to scare people or worse.
Words are powerful weapons. Be patient, vigilant, determined, persistent.

Even if not using products by these awful companies does nothing, I always dump any company that does shitty stuff. I do it for me. Started in the 70s with chemical giants. Continue to this day. It just makes sense.
I’m so late to the party, he’s back on air tonight, though I heard not in all cities. Gotta love the United States of North Korea.
