Let’s start with this before we get into this weekend’s news about Trump’s war against Chicago:
Did you know that Congress authorized $170 billion for border and immigrant expulsions for the next four years?1 This is more money than every law enforcement agency in the United States put together.
According to the Brennan Center for Justice:2
It is more than the annual expenditures on police by state and local governments in all 50 states and the District of Columbia combined.
It turns the U.S Immigration and Customs and Enforcement, aka ICE, which receives $49 billion, into the largest law enforcement agency in the nation, bigger than the FBI, which comes in at a comparatively meager $11.1 billion.3
The regime also fired 65 immigration judges, replacing some of them with military (JAG) judges. According to the Brennan Center:
The administration has also moved to halt all legal orientation and support programs that help vulnerable immigrants navigate the complex immigration system, including programs that help children and families separated during the first administration.
The intent of all this, according to the Brennan Center, is to:
Let immigrants languish in detention centers while waiting for a hearing.
We’ve already seen some of this in action, as immigrants and U.S. Citizens falsely accused of not having their paperwork in order are sent to makeshift concentration camps in failed states ranging from Alabama to Libya.
The 2025 budget bill’s deportation and detention funding is significantly larger than the CIA’s $73.4 billion budget.. Keep in mind how remarkable that is. The CIA needs a vast infrastructure of clandestine computer software and equipment, and thousands of field officers and support staff in hundreds of countries.
The CIA’s budget is only 44% of the new deportation and incarceration budget.
If it were part of the Defense Department, the new incarceration effort would eat up 21% of the military’s budget.
It’s $30 million more than last year’s Department of Education budget, which the regime, through its Project 2025 Destruction of America4 document, has promised to end.5
It’s almost half of what is spent by the entire Department of Veterans Affairs.
The news you’ve been reading about ICEstapo tactics will be looked upon as the good old days when all this allocated money is spent on new, poorly trained ICE agents, private prisons, many of them overseas in places you wouldn’t send your worst enemy, and a variety of authoritarian tools that many of these immigrants were running away from in the first place.
$45 billion has been allocated for new private prisons run by the growing prison industrial complex.
“Never in our 42-year company history have we had so much activity and demand for our services as we are seeing right now.” This budget bill will solidify that vision for CoreCivic, GEO Group, and other firms that manage and own immigrant detention centers and transportation subsidiaries.”
Who dat?
That’s Damon Hininger, CEO of CoreCivic, America’s fast-growing private prison firm. Hininger’s greatest accomplishment as CEO of a private prison conglomorate, aside from sitting in his underwear with his hands out waiting for Trump money to fall into them, was settling a $56 million lawsuit against his company after the Biden administration pulled contracts from the company because Hininger and his friends misrepresented the company’s capabilities and safety record.6
On a recent earnings call, he boasted that ICE would need 100,000 new “beds” to accommodate its vast prison camp operation. For CoreCivic, a bed is a flattened roll of steel, a blanket (for the lucky ones), and a pillow the size of your hand.
The growing prison industrial complex will be so massive that one private prison firm won’t be able to handle it all. Firms like GEO Group are entering the lucrative business. These days, all you need is a connection to someone in the Trump regime and access to a lot of steel and concrete contractors, and maybe a willingness to hire violent ex-cons as correction officers.
The regime wants you to believe they’re going after criminals. But 72 percent of ICE abductees have no criminal record, according to a recent study.7
There are already 59,762 people incarcerated for the crime of living in the United States.8 This is before one dime of the incoming $170 billion has been spent.
My readers are imaginative, intelligent folks. So take one minute, since that’s all it will take you, to consider what that last paragraph means.
I’ll lend you one more bit of information to help. ICE’s budget in 2024 was $11.1 billion, compared to its new $49 billion budget. For an incarceration specialist that has already kidnapped and incarcerated 59,762 people.
The Brennan Center correctly calls the $170 billion in overall incarceration and deportation funding the beginning of a deportation industrial complex. I’ll call it the beginning of a prison industrial complex that the administration has already demonstrated a willingness to outsource overseas to countries like Libya and other dysfunctional, and often violent, foreign nations.9
Ice attacks a television producer
Now, let’s go to Chicago and add a human element to this story by briefly considering the story of Debbie Brockman, a producer and video editor for Chicago’s WGN-TV. Brockman was face-planted by an ICE agent and cuffed for the crime of trying to record ICE activities. The video says it all:
Outrage throughout Chicago resulted in her quick release, but the face plant by untrained thugs will stay with her for a while.
The walking dead attack the sleeping dead
Cemetery workers in Forest Park, Illinois, were maced with pepper spray late last week after ICEstapo agents broke into the cemetery using bolt cutters on the chain link fence protecting the cemetery’s private property (a federal judge recently issued a ban on such warrantless attacks on private property, but that doesn’t stop ICE thugs).
The cemetary workers resisted, too.
The War Between the Judges Continues
An appeals court this weekend denied10 the Trump regime’s request for a stay on another judge’s ruling that blocked the regime from sending the National Guard to Illinois, which, for now, means that Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s attempt to start a civil war between the states is on hold.
Abbott, as you may know. eagerly accommodated the mad clown’s request to use Texas National Guard troops to disrupt life in Chicago.
According to the Chicago Tribune:
The 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals did, however, grant a temporary stay on a portion of U.S. District Judge April Perry’s order involving the federalization of the National Guard within Illinois.
“Members of the National Guard do not need to return to their home states unless further ordered by a court to do so,” the court order said.
The ruling keeps in effect Perry’s granting of a temporary restraining order Thursday halting Trump’s plan to send federalized National Guard troops into the Chicago area to act as a security force during the administration’s controversial immigration-enforcement action known as “Operation Midway Blitz.”
If you consider the terminology many of use regarding the regime’s authoritarianism extreme, all I can say is, “Operation Midway Blitz” is not the term you use for something that isn’t war-related.
It isn’t the opposition that started this shit. But we will finish it.
Chicago Priest shot in head with pepper balls by ICEstapo goons
While protesters were dancing in front of an ICE house in Broadview, Illinois, ICEstapo agents were shooting at priests from the rooftops:11
According to WGN-TV:
Video captured by Kelly Hayes shows Pastor David Black of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago with his arms outstrectched and looking up at a group of masked ICE agents standing on the roof of the building:
“I had only been present at the Broadview protest for a few minutes that night when I saw Reverend David Black, a regular protester outside the Broadview ICE facility, being shot in the head with a pepper ball by ICE agents,” Hayes told Storyful.
ICEstapo apologist Tricia McLaughlin defended the ICE goons by saying:
“What this clipped video doesn’t show is that these agitators were blocking an ICE vehicle from leaving the federal facility — impeding operations,” even though it’s clear in the video that the priest was doing nothing of the sort.12
Mr. Bovino, tear down that wall
Icestapo was ordered by a federal judge to remove a fence surrounding the ICEstapo building in Broadview, Illinois. The fence was hastily constructed by ICE in an attempt to prevent protests from being heard by sensitive ICE ears.
U.S. District Judge LaShonda Hunt said that the fence violated the city’s right to access its own land, and used the regime’s own words against it by saying that “there is no plan to take the fence down and that ‘Operation Midway Blitz‘ currently has no end in sight.”13
ICE abducts eighteen rideshare drivers during an attack on O’Hare Airport rideshare waiting area
According to the Chicago Tribune:14
Federal immigration officials targeted a parking lot near O’Hare International Airport where rideshare drivers wait between trips on Friday, advocates said.
18 people were arrested at O’Hare as part of an operation carried out by Border Patrol officers on Friday, the Department of Homeland Security said.
In a statement, the Illinois Drivers Alliance — a labor coalition seeking to organize rideshare drivers — said it was “deeply concerned that the drivers’ due process rights were violated at O’Hare.”
O’Hare Airport is one area ICE chickenshits don’t need to worry about getting harassed when leaving their SUVs in masks, because everyone is rushing to their plane. This made the attack easy, and they were able to nab 18 people. All of them, according to regime spokesperson, the smiling Tricia McLaughlin, have been incarcerated.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker appears on Jimmy Kimmel to report on “War-torn Chicago”
JB Pritzker showed up in a military-style flak jacket to report on events in Chicago.15
He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel a day after Trump threatened to arrest the Illinois governor and Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson by saying they “should be in jail.” Pritzker responded in an interview with a local reporter that Trump was unhinged and that he can “come and get me.”
In Illinois, politicians are active members of the resistance. Are your politicians? If not, ask them why.

Rather than doing a separate post on this, I’m updating the latest immigration insanity from Chicago (and sometimes elsewhere) here.
Chief Cook County Judge bars ICE from arresting immigrants in Cook County courthouses without a warrant
Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans in Illinois Wednesday issued a general order prohibiting warrantless arrests against immigrants in any Cook County court for other matters. This has been a huge problem in Chicago and other regions.16
Here’s a typical scenario: An immigrant, undocumented or otherwise, attends a court hearing on an unrelated charge (or even divorce). ICE goons scan the court dockets every morning and look for Latin surnames. They collect the surnames, run background checks, and if there’s even a hint they may be undocumented, they lie in wait to arrest them at the courthouse.
Even worse is the woman with a Latin surname trying to obtain a protection order against a violent husband or domestic partner. Doing so becomes a double risk when she knows that when she tries to make her plea with the court, ICE might snatch her and send her to Uganda.
Whether this resolves the problem or not is difficult to know, but the fact that ICE followed another recent court order to take down a fence surrounding an ICE location in Broadview, Illinois, suggests they may be picking their battles more carefully.
More murder and mayhem on the high seas
Not directly related, but the Trump regime on Tuesday (October 14) attacked another recreational boat somewhere off the Venezuela coast, murdering six people. The regime has now murdered 27 such people, redefining in Trumpian terms the phrase, “boat people.”
It’s worth reproducing a map I created from Google Maps in a prior post to fully understand the depravity of killing six people in a speedboat off the coast of Venezuela:
I said it before. I’ll say it again: Even if we handicap the mad clown trip by letting the speedboat start in Aruba, which is sort of off the Venezuelan coast, and measure the distance as the crow flies, allowing for a super duper speedboat that can drive itself through Cuba like it’s parting the Red Sea, we are looking at a 1,161-mile trip to Key West. In a speedboat. Unpossible, as we sports fans like to say.
Americans not familiar with the Constitution may not be aware that these attacks violate federal law and the Constitution of the United States. Even if we can’t find a way to hold Trump accountable thanks to the immunity given him by the Supreme Court, we can hold Hegseth and anyone responsible for following his orders accountable.
A Brief Battle in Chicago
On the 10500 block of Avenue M on the far south side of Chicago, near my old haunting grounds, the hunted fought back against their hunters.17
You don’t hear the term “East Side” often in Chicago. Unlike its bigger cousins, the West Side and the South Side, the East Side is a neighborhood, like Hyde Park or Rogers Park, and doesn’t encompass an expansive area.
It’s populated with a lot of scrumptious Mexican eateries, among other fine cultural niceties, and, like some other areas nearby, such as along Pulaski Avenue, it almost has the feel of a Mexican town. To most Chicagoans, it’s divine. To ICEstapo, it’s a magnet for their outrages.

Local streets aren’t safe when insane ICE goons are chasing vehicles all over the neighborhood.
Facebook removes page revealing ICE sightings in Chicago
Late last night (Tuesday, October 15), after pressure from Pam Bondi’s Justice Department, Facebook removed an important community resource that helped Chicagoans track ICE activities.18
The Facebook group had been assisting Chicagoans in tracing ICE goons so that ethnically profiled targets could get out of the neighborhood if stormtroopers showed up in the area.
Meta, the purveyor of Facebook, is under the political control of the Trump regime through a guy named Dustin Carmack, who contributed to Project 2025 (INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY, page 201). Carmack is now a staff member at Meta, brought in by Zuckerberg to monitor and enforce Trump regime compliance among Facebook users.
Facebook users frequently complain of disappearing posts. Carmack is why.
Carmack was the chief of staff to the director of national intelligence from 2020 to 2021. He has since been hired by Meta to monitor your Facebook and Instagram feeds.7
Chicago Restaurants ban ICE
Chicago restaurants and cafes have taken to putting up signs saying that ICE agents are not welcome.
Again, per the Chicago Tribune:
This is the opposite of what usually happens in Chicago, where eateries are often more than happy to serve cops. This kind of resistance should tell anyone thinking about responding to Kristi Noem’s massive ICE recruitment effort all they need to understand how their new job will go down with their fellow Americans.
My advice? If you really want to bust heads for a living, become a roadhouse bouncer.
The Broadview ICE fence is torn down
In a surprising act of court compliance, ICE began tearing down a fence they erected around the Broadview, Illinois ICE facility, which has become a hotbed of protest. A federal judge had ordered that it be taken down by 11:59 pm Tuesday (yesterday). The Chicago Tribune reports that it was dismantled by 11 pm.19
This, too, was an act of resistance, this time on the part of Broadview city officials, who sent lawyers to federal courts immediately after the fence was erected, saying that it was a violation of municipal code and property. This also feels like a major victory.
The Pentagon gets a taste of Chicago-style resistance
Even Pentagon reporters are learning how to resist the regime, which has sued the news media in an attempt to bend them to their will, banned the Associated Press from covering Trump directly, and cut funding to public media organizations like NPR and PBS.
The latest attempt at creating a fully obsequious national press corps comes from the blathering, stammering, drunken lips of Pete Hegseth, who, between sips of scotch, has demanded that all of the media outlets that report on the Pentagon sign an affidavit promising to clear all their stories through the Pentagon and not solicit stories that might be considered leaks from Pentagon staffers.

Tuesday, ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC put out a joint statement that said: “Today, we join virtually every other news organization in declining to agree to the Pentagon’s new requirements, which would restrict journalists’ ability to keep the nation and the world informed of important national security issues. The policy is without precedent and threatens core journalistic protections. We will continue to cover the U.S. military as each of our organizations has done for many decades, upholding the principles of a free and independent press.”
Read the first part of that again and tell me if you see something funny. Yep, even Fox News signed the “Nope, won’t do it” document.
So who the hell is One America News? Yikes. Do you really want to know? If you insist on knowing, I suggest you grab your morning vodka before going into that rabbit hole.
One America News (OAN — or OWNED for short), is an ultranationalist right-wing media network that serves as the official mouthpiece for incels and Christo-Nationalists in the United States. If you have a crazy uncle or dad whose eyes and ears are affixed permanently to his television and/or ear pods, he’s probably listening to OAN.
OAN is most famous for one of its political commentators, Jack Posobiec, who plied his trade there from 2018 to 2021. Posobiec, in turn, gained his fame by promoting the pizzagate theory that had Hillary Clinton as a mastermind hiding in a pizza parlor, pumping out child porn.
It is now the only media outlet with direct, formal access to the slurs (in more than one way) of Pete Hegseth, who is mysteriously still the head of the Defense Department.
What to do if you get stopped by ICE
Even Chicago’s long-time conservative newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, is involved in daily resistance. Today, the newspaper released a story with that above headline that included advice from an attorney on what to do if you’re confronted by ICE goons.
What kind of documents should you have in the face of regime stormtroopers demanding documentation from U.S. citizens?
According to the Tribune, an immigration lawyer answered (bold is mine):21
“That is a really good question, especially in light of all the rights violations that ICE is doing. It’s hit or miss,” said Veronica Garcia, a senior staff attorney with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. “There’s what you should carry and whether they’re going to take your proof of what you’re carrying as truth, like what happened with that woman who’s a U.S. citizen.”
Under federal law, registered foreign nationals, such as green card holders, must carry proof of registration with them at all times. Prior to a second Trump administration, this was rarely enforced.
U.S. citizens are not required to carry identification with them, but Garcia said some might consider carrying their passport or a copy of their passport for faster proof of their identity.
“Because they’re scared of being detained for how they look or where they live,” Garcia said.
One key question facing individuals worried about being detained is whether they should carry originals or copies. Garcia said that it’s a “personal decision” based on risk. If you lose your green card, it can cost upward of $400 to replace.
Some residents concerned that ICE or Border Patrol might lose or damage an original passport or other document might opt for copies or photos. But Garcia cautions that carrying photos of your documents on your phone carries its own risk.
“It can get a bit tricky to have … this on your phone because you would most likely need to unlock it and this can give access to more of your information than you want,” she said.
While individuals can decide for themselves what documents they carry, Garcia said they should be mindful not to carry foreign passports.
The lawyer also recommends anyone wearing anything darker than Pantone white skin to carry a “red” card.
A red card is a card listing your rights that the Immigrant Legal Resource Center advises you hand over to stormtroopers who threaten you. After that, the center recommends that you remain silent. 22

The card advises people:
DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR if an immigration agent is knocking on the door.
DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS from an immigration agent if they try to talk to you. You have the right to remain silent.
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING without first speaking to a lawyer. You have the right to speak with a lawyer.
If you are outside of your home, ask the agent if you are free to leave and if they say yes, leave calmly.
GIVE THIS CARD TO THE AGENT. If you are inside of your home, show the card through the window or slide it under the door.
In addition to carrying the “red card,” Garcia said, U.S. citizens could carry state identification. If they have some form of legal status, like a green card or a work permit, she said, they should also carry them
If you notice my source references in this article, you’ll see that the Chicago Tribune is invested heavily in immigration news and protection. You might think that must leave its legendary former conservative owner, Colonel McCormick, spinning in his grave, but keep in mind that conservatives once hailed immigration as an essential part of American life.
ICE reaches its tentacles into Boston to kidnap a 13-year-old boy
According to independent journalist Marisa Kabas, a thirteen-year-old boy from Everett, Massachusetts, near Boston, was arrested by ICE goons when his fingerprints showed up following an arrest on weapons charges (a knife) after allegedly threatening a schoolmate.23 The boy, from Brazil, has a pending asylum case. His mother is distressed that her son is now hundreds of miles away from home.
He was taken to an ICE facility in Massachusetts, then to another in Virginia. His case is being handled by an immigration lawyer there.
Maris Kabas writes:
After I reached out to ICE spokesperson Casey Latimer on Monday regarding the boy taken from Everett, I received a reply from a different spokesperson named James Covington. He wrote “Please see the below from DHS on the 13-year-old alien. Please feel free to direct any questions to them.”
The “below” Covington was referring to was—and bear with me here—a screenshot of an X post from DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin who had quote posted Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a Senior Fellow at the American Immigration Council. Reichlin-Melnick had posted about the story, writing “This makes NO SENSE. A 13-year-old was arrested by local police for unknown reasons, and then turned over to ICE, which is detaining him far away from his mother — who is going through immigration court, has an asylum application on file, and is legally authorized to work.”
The small town of Everett, population 50,000, has been under siege by ICE since the beginning of Mad Clown 2.0. A city council meeting was held last night to air out the grievances of those affected.

U.S. revokes visas for people who didn’t bend the knee for the corpse of Charlie Kirk
According to Reuters and other news outlets, sycophant Marco Rubio revoked the visas today of six foreign nationals who have not properly bent the knee at Charlie Kirk’s grave.
According to Reuters:
In one post, an Argentine national accused Kirk of “spreading racist, xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric,” according to the State Department.24
“The United States has no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans,” the department said on X.
It listed South Africa, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Germany and Paraguay as the home countries of the people who had their visas revoked.
Out you go! There is no room for alternative viewpoints in Trump’s America. You’re either all in on racism and misogyny, or you’re out. Holy shit, Rubio, I know you’ve never had much to offer America, but you’ve gone off the rails completely. Epstein List, maybe? I don’t know what else would motivate his new level of madness.
Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders reject Trump’s immigration policies
What approval there once was of Trump’s approach to immigration policy among Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) has collapsed. A new poll by AAPI Data/AP-NORC poll reveals that 71% of AAPI disapprove of the war on immigration compared to six months ago, when it was “only” at 58%.25
I don’t have stats handy right now, but my understanding is that support in the Latino population has collapsed, too, even in border areas like the Rio Grande.

That’s the headline from a Chicago Sun-Times article reporting on community organizers holding a press conference to highlight recent ICE attacks on Chicago’s Southeast side:
“Leave our city. You are not welcome here,” Olga Bautista, vice president of the Chicago Board of Education, said at a news conference Wednesday morning.
“We will stand shoulder to shoulder with our labor allies, our schools, our faith leaders and our neighbors,” Bautista said. “We will protect our young people and we will demand accountability and justice.”

District Judge Sara Ellis holding a Thursday morning (today!) hearing on whether or not to issue a temporary restraining order against ICE stormtrooper violence.
District Judge Sara Ellis, a Barack Obama appointee, filed a brief entry Wednesday as part of ongoing civil litigation against the Trump administration. Judge Ellis entered a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the federal defendants last Thursday, ordering federal immigration agents in Chicagoland to, among other things, wear identification and curtail their use of chemical weapons on journalists, protestors and religious practitioners.
The order is part of a class action lawsuit filed Monday against Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, multiple federal agencies and “unnamed federal officer defendants.” Federal agents have spent a month shooting pepper balls, tear gas, rubber bullets and flashbangs into protestor crowds, Chicago communities and press alike. Agents have also arrested at least one Chicago journalist, Unraveled Press co-founder Steve Held, and have been caught on camera shooting reporters and clergy in the head and groin with pepper balls.
The hearing was set for 8:30 am today. No word yet on the result.

Across the city, neighbors are stepping up to help kids get to school safely, picking up groceries for families who fear leaving their homes and raising money to support street vendors and others whose livelihoods have been threatened by the swarm of Immigration and Customs Enforcement patrols.
While it remains unknown how long the increased ICE presence will last — Russell Hott, ICE’s field director in Chicago, told Block Club last week that there was no planned end date — the effect of people showing up for one another will continue to reverberate for just as long, neighbors and organizers said.
Blowing The Whistle
Residents are equipping themselves with whistles by the thousands, readying neighbors to alert one another if they see ICE agents nearby.

Monica Gutierrez has called Pilsen home for the majority of her life, but she’s never seen the streets of her neighborhood this empty. It’s disheartening to see the fear, violence and disrespect her community is facing, said Gutierrez, who was raised in an immigrant household.
“ICE is everywhere and doesn’t even allow us a second to breathe or to get where we need,” she said.
When Gutierrez came across Sin Título’s Neighbor to Neighbor program a few weeks ago, she jumped at the opportunity. As a volunteer, Gutierrez goes on grocery runs for community members who are afraid to leave their homes to get the basic necessities.
Sin Título co-founder Iraís Sosa started the program in hopes of creating “more moments of peace” amid the chaos.
But Sosa didn’t anticipate that 100 people would sign up within the first couple hours of opening the volunteer application. Now almost 400 people have applied, Sosa said. It was a “good problem” to have and she quickly figured out a system. The program has been capped at 200 volunteers across the Chicago area to keep it manageable.
After seeing a raid at a bus stop, Sosa also started offering Lyft gift cards for those who don’t feel safe commuting using public transportation.
Applications to receive help or nominate a loved one are still open and available in English and Spanish, Sosa said. Recipients are paired up with a volunteer and can get groceries on a recurring basis as long as funds are available. They have measures in place to ensure privacy, like confirming addresses verbally over the phone as opposed to text or email, she said.
How you can help: While Sin Título isn’t taking more volunteers right now, it is still accepting donations. They’ve raised more than $11,000 since launching the program to cover the cost of groceries and Lyft gift cards.
Cleansing Charity
Cristina Puzio is a curandera — a folk healer — born and raised in Pilsen. After seeing news of Funston Elementary being tear-gassed by federal agents in Logan Square in early October, she felt a need to do something that would honor her community and her culture.
The specific limpia she offers is for those living with shock and fear — particularly resonant during the heightened ICE activity. Incorporating obsidian, epazote, basil, Copal, lemons and sacred waters, the ritual lasts for 10 minutes.
How you can help: Attend the next limpias fundraiser at the Logan Square shop, 3628 W. Armitage Ave., from 2:30-6 p.m. Tuesday. Espacio 3628 is also accepting donations to continue handing out whistles and Know Your Rights cards, and organizing watch patrols during neighborhood school drop-offs and pickups.
School Safety
In Belmont Cragin, school attendance has dropped by as much as 10 percent as families worry that ICE agents will show up during drop-off and pickup, said Alonso Zaragoza, who serves on a Local School Council along with his work with Belmont Cragin United.
A new “walking school bus” program aims to provide a sense of security for families as they go to and from school, Zaragoza said. Seven or eight volunteers will position themselves along school routes, mirroring Safe Passage routes established by Chicago Public Schools. Similar corner watches have launched in Irving Park and Albany Park on the Northwest Side, as well.

Turning Art Into Action
As reports of ICE raids began spreading through Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods, photographer Mari Trancoso said she felt a growing urgency to help.
Using her photography business and online following, she created a fundraising campaign called Art as an Offering. Proceeds from mentoring sessions, photo editing customizations known as presets and educational PDFs were given to five Chicago organizations: Instituto del Progreso Latino, ICIRR, Pilsen Food Pantry, Street Vendors Association of Chicago, and Sin Título.

Wallet Warriors
Pilsen streets have been emptier than usual, and Becky Lehmann took note during a recent visit to the neighborhood. At times, she was the only customer at some of the businesses she stepped in, she said.
Lehmann, who lives in Edgewater, wanted to help, so she posted an Instagram video calling on people to support the businesses in Hispanic neighborhoods still reeling from the increased ICE presence.
Others have also made the call for Chicagoans to support immigrant-owned businesses. The Hermosa Belmont Cragin Chamber of Commerce shared a list of neighborhood businesses to support. Lost Girls Vintage put out a call for commenters to share their favorite South and West side businesses. Zaragoza said Belmont Cragin has been slowly recovering from the pandemic, rebuilding its business community. But the ICE raids have caused renewed fear and kept many from dining out or even leaving their homes, he said.
“The dining scene in our neighborhoods has been decimated because of it,” he said. The neighborhood will host a Taste of Belmont Cragin event Oct. 28, with a route through four restaurants and participating street vendors.

ProPublica reports that more than 170 U.S. citizens have been detained by ICE stormtroopers during the last nine months
These incidents include unconstitutional violations of federal habeas corpus laws and violent attacks against citizens.

Americans Detained: The government doesn’t track how many citizens are held by immigration agents. We found more than 170 cases this year where citizens were detained at raids and protests.

Cases Wilted: Agents have arrested about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, for allegedly interfering with or assaulting officers, yet those cases were often dropped.

Federal appeals court maintains order barring federalized National Guard from deployment in Illinois
In another blow to the mad clown and Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s attempt to create a war between the states, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals refused to block a court order barring the National Guard from being federalized and patrolling in Chicago.28
The court stated that “the facts do not justify” the attempt by the regime to activate the National Guard at a federal level, meaning that they’re still answerable to Governor JB Pritzker, not Trump, and that Texas National Guard troops could not be deployed in the state.
Elgin, Illinois police officer is placed on leave after posting a Facebook message supporting ICE
Elgin police Officer Jason Lentz was placed on a leave of absence after posting several Elgin locations on Facebook that would be great places to find undocumented workers.29
Cook County bars Ice from using county-owned property for immigration enforcement
Cook County joined Chicago and Lake County (in the northern Chicago area) barring ICE stormtroopers from immigration enforcement on county-owned property such as “county-owned buildings, parking lots, and garages,” according to the Chicago Tribune.30
San Francisco: Marc Benioff’s treason becomes official
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has transitioned from a reasonably progressive guy to full MAGA to protect every red cent of his money. That’s bad enough, but now, internal documents have leaked out of the Salesforce offices that reveal an effort to pitch for ICE business, according to the New York Times.31
According to the Times:
The internal documents include a five-page memo sent on Aug. 26 that explained how Salesforce is best suited to help the agency with “talent acquisition” to achieve its goal “to nearly triple its work force by hiring 10,000 new officers and agents expeditiously.”
The company, which had hoped to land a paid contract, was responding to an ICE request that firms explain how they could help the agency hire more agents. It was not clear how much money the services could raise.
Benioff had previously been one of the more celebrated Tech Bros supposedly on the progressive side, but has since been infected by the Trump virus. He said a week before the leaked documents story that he “fully supports” the mad clown and wanted National Guard troops deployed in San Francisco.
This most likely is because his driver accidentally made a stop in the Tenderloin district or near a homeless encampment, thus upsetting his vision of the proper San Francisco aesthetic.
San Francisco City Supervisor Danny Sauter’s reaction was straightforward: “For someone to claim that they support San Francisco and then be embedded with ICE like this is deeply concerning.”32
Meanwhile, a Salesforce Foundation board member, Ron Conway, has resigned from the Foundation after many years of support by saying that his values “no longer aligned” with Benioff’s.33
San Francisco, in addition to Chicago, is another place I’ve lived. But his about-face doesn’t surprise me. I’ve done freelance software work with Salesforce as a second-party client, and they drove me crazy. Stuff like that usually comes from the top down.
ICE Raid on Swap-O-Rama Flea Market: “They said they’d detain gang members and criminals, but here it’s just hardworking people.”
That headline is a quote from a witness who saw 15 people taken into custody at the Swap-O-Rama Flea Market at 4100 S. Ashland Ave., in the Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood, which was once the heart of the Chicago stockyards but is now a home for entrepreneurs on a budget. When it was a stockyard, it was made famous by Upton Sinclair’s novel, The Jungle.
ICE stormtroopers poured out of four vehicles and descended upon the flea market to make fifteen racially profiled arrests. It’s unknown how many of those arrested were U.S. citizens.
Vendors, after noticing several masked stormtroopers walking around the flea market, packed up their things and left. ICE not only wrecked a few families and businesses, but destroyed a vibe, too.
ICE Goons slamming into vehicles at high speeds to force passengers and drivers out of their cars
A Facebook user from Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood reports (bold is mine):
My neighborhood has overnight become alarming in a way it has never been in 39 years. And yes, I live on THE south side of Chicago. Always have. Now, people are being snatched off the street one block over from my house. Now, ICE is parked outside of a daycare (?!) to ostensibly snatch parents or caregivers (?!) when they come to pick up their kids. Now, students at the schools in the neighborhood are scared because of the random nature of these bad men popping up God knows where next. They have purposely crashed their speeding vehicles into other moving vehicles in order to throw the folks in the other cars out. They have thrown tear gas canisters outside of elementary schools. They snatched a 15 year old boy, a citizen, and locked him alone in a car for 5 hours with nothing and no way to contact anyone. They snatched a contractor. They’re knocking down old people and shooting at clergymen. They don’t care what your status is. They don’t.
Normally, I don’t do Facebook reports, but this is first person, not someone spreading fake news they read online, and everything you see in the rest of this Ruminato post verifies the general theme of her post.
Typically, the mainstream media reports these crashes as caused by the person being arrested. But one video after another shows something else: ICE goons purposely slamming into the sides or hoods of vehicles to force them into uncontrollable slides.
Oh, shit! They’re alive!
Now comes word that there are two survivors from the most recent blown-up boating excursion off the Venezuelan coast. The U.S. Navy “rescued” them as they languished in the water, the state of their injuries unknown, especially now that the number of correspondents allowed to report on Tipsy Hegseth activities is down to whoever works at One America Network (OAN).
According to the New York Times,34 the Navy, which doesn’t like to deal with detentions, has been forced, for the time being, to stow the new captives on board one of the eight warships in the area. None of their options for dealing with their surprise guests are attractive, which is why the idea is to blow the boats up thoroughly enough that there are no survivors.
The NY Times reporters posit that perhaps they’ll be taken to Guantanamo, where they will disappear from the view of the prying American public unless Nancy Hollander comes to the rescue again. One thing can be sure of with the Hegseth Defense Department: There are many ways to die if your skin tone doesn’t match his.
The Trump regime asks for the Supreme Court’s Shadow Docket to allow the National Guard to start its war on Chicago
So far, the Supreme Court, bought and paid for by the Federalist Society, has used its shadow docket to give Trump pretty much what he wants. The Shadow Docket is an emergency procedure that was, at one time, rarely used by the Supreme Court, but which the Roberts court has used repeatedly to issue emergency rulings without hearing arguments from any lawyers. It’s been one of the most insidious features of the Roberts court, and has been used to rubber stamp Trump policies like they do in tin-pot dictatorships.
Now, the Trump regime is asking the Roberts court to overrule a three-judge federal appeals panel without arguments being presented so that he can send National Guard troops into Illinois without provocation. The regime is probably hoping to be able to get the Supreme Court to rule before tomorrow’s No Kings protests. Stay tuned.
ICE and other law enforcement agencies gain access to Ring cameras

Law enforcement agencies will soon have easier access to footage captured by Amazon’s Ring smart cameras. In a partnership announced this week, Amazon will allow approximately 5,000 local law enforcement agencies to request access to Ring camera footage via surveillance platforms from Flock Safety. Ring’s cooperation with law enforcement and the reported use of Flock technologies by federal agencies, including US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has resurfaced privacy concerns that have followed the devices for years.35
Flock has had close ties to law enforcement agencies for years, and is a provider of license plate recognition technology and, increasingly, facial recognition technology.

U.S. to send injured victims of Tipsy Hegseth’s naval attack off the Venezuela coast home
The victims of the latest attacks on recreational boats off the Venezuela coast by the regime are being sent home. There was some question about what the United States would do with the victims after rescuing them from the botched obliteration, with some suggesting they might end up in Guantanamo.
The victims, from Colombia and Ecuador were said by their families to have not been involved in drug running. Even if they were, bombing them out of the water is illegal.
The New York Times is reporting on the attack by buying the Pentagon story hook, line, and sinker (sorry):36
Minutes after the strike, analysts watching on a video feed from a surveillance aircraft noticed what appeared to be at least two survivors bobbing in the water amid the smoldering wreckage of the craft, the officials said. There were also several floating bales, they added.
The Times has not seen the surveillance video. The Pentagon declined to comment.
The Times is calling it a semi-submersible because the Pentagon is calling it a semi-submersible. But nobody knows the true nature of the boat that was destroyed.
And hey, maybe these guys were running drugs. But maybe they weren’t — that’s why God invented courthouses. The United States is borrowing a page from the Philippines’ Rodrigo Duterte playbook and killing people for sport.
200,000 protesters reported in Washington D.C. for No Kings Day
Early returns are suggesting record turnouts for No Kings Day. I have a proposal: When Trump finally succumbs to whatever is eating him from the inside out, I propose we name the federal holiday that celebrates his demise, “No Kings Day.” It’s important to let nature take its course here. Only total nutjobs try to take this kind of stuff into their own hands. Luckily for us, the vast majority of nutjobs are on the right. Most of us just want to dance in frog suits.

Another ICE attack on O’Hare Airport rideshare zone
Four rideshare drivers were snatched my ICE while waiting for riders, according to Service Employees International Union Local 1 spokesperson Bailey Koch. Per the Chicago Tribune:38
Ald. Michael Rodriguez, the mayor’s handpicked Workforce Development Committee chair, said he will be calling Johnson’s team to see what further measures can be taken to prevent another raid.
“The Gestapo efforts by this president have no boundaries,” Rodriguez said. “Quite frankly, they’re doing unlawful things every minute of the day, and here’s another opportunity for them to do that.”
ICE lunatic chases immigration activist in Ventura County, then crashes into his pickup truck
Leo Martinez, a US citizen and immigration rights volunteer in Oxnard, California, says ICE agents in an unmarked SUV rammed his truck before taking him into custody.

ICE Fears force possible business closures in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin and Hermosa neighborhoods
According to Block Club Chicago:39
Businesses in Belmont Cragin and Hermosa have seen massive slowdowns in sales — with some facing closure within months — as ICE and Border Patrol agents have descended on the majority-Latino communities.
The Northwest Side neighborhoods have seen increased immigration arrests and ICE activity in recent weeks under the Trump administration’s large-scale immigration operations — ICE’s Midway Blitz and Border Patrol’s At Large — which started in September. That has stoked fear among would-be customers, with foot traffic and sales dropping, business owners said.
“It’s been really difficult. We could close the restaurant if we don’t get more business in the next two months,” said Jesus, the manager of Las Casitas restaurant, 5746 W. Belmont Ave. in Belmont Cragin. Jesus, who has worked for the restaurant since 2020, asked to not have his last name published out of fear federal agents would target him.

Popular Information Investigation shows ICE has increased weapons spending 700% in 2025

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has sharply increased its spending on weapons in 2025, according to an analysis of federal government contracting data by Popular Information. Records from the Federal Procurement Data System reveal that ICE has increased spending on “small arms, ordnance, and ordnance accessories manufacturing” by 700% compared to 2024 levels.40
4,500-member “Activate Oak Park” Facebook group administrator is pulled out of his car at gunpoint
Scott Sakiyama is the administrator of a group called Activate Oak Park (Illinois). He and and Cathy Thompson Sakiyama wrote a Facebook post about being pulled out of his car at gunpoint after following ICE vehicles who were searching for people to kidnap:41
Here’s a portion of his report:
This morning masked ICE agents pulled me out of my car at gun-point, threw me in the back of a van and took me to their facility in Broadview. I had been following the van down Harvard honking my horn and blowing a whistle to alert the community that ICE was in the neighborhood. Just across from Lincoln elementary school, where my daughter is in second grade, they jumped out of their van with guns drawn and threatened to smash my windows. They removed me from my car and drove me to Broadview. They tried to determine if I was an American citizen (I am). After sitting handcuffed in the van for about 30 minutes, they issued me a citation for “impeding” them, claiming I cut them off (which is not true). They then drove me back to my car. While in their van, I could see they were receiving text messages that were part of a group chat called “Chiraq Team 2.” They also stated they also spoke to someone on their phone saying they were going to meet someone else near where they were dropping me off, and that they were going to proceed to conduct enforcement activities with that person.
As far as I am aware, this is the only incident relating to ICE that occurred outside Lincoln today. I believe that there was a confirmed abduction in River Forest today, as well as significant activity in the suburbs north and west of us.
To be clear, the federal government is intent on abusing its power to kidnap and violate the rights of our friends and neighbors, and now, they say it is a crime to tell your neighbors this is happening. That is the world we are living in. I am OK (I have some scrapes on my wrists from the cuffs) physically, but I am not OK in the sense that what happened today illustrates that WE ARE LIVING in a fascist society. We are not on the verge of it, or close to it, it is here. We need to all pull together to resist that fascism, because no one is coming to save us: not our elected leaders, not our courts, and not Heather Cox Richardson, and it will not even be enough if we get 3.5% of the population to a No Kings rally.
Here are some things you can do if you want to resist the fascism. First, join a rapid response team for ICE activity. To become a part of existing rapid response teams you need to attend a training. Why do I need to attend a training? First, the training will be conducted by people who have been working in this space for a long time and can provide best practices that will make your work meaningful as well as alert you to issues you might not think of otherwise. Additionally, rapid response work is not safe anymore (was it ever?). The training will focus on safety issues. People should do a risk assessment when they decide how they can resist. A successful resistance will not be without risk. Everyone will need to decide what they are able/willing to risk.

Sakiyama’s Facebook report also provides info for Chicagoans on how to resist, such as blowing whistles, which has become such a big part of the resistance in Chicago that the Wall Street Journal wrote a glowing story on it, complete with video of Chicagoans preparing the whistles for use.42
Federal judge to depose Border Patrol and ICE officials, including Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino
According to NBC 5 in Chicago, Gregory Bovino and other stormtrooper officials will be deposed in a court hearing about the use of chemical agents in the Chicago area. Per the NBC 5 report:43
Ellis called Monday’s hearing after expressing concern that her temporary restraining order wasn’t being followed.
On Oct. 9, Ellis issued an order that barred federal agents from using crowd control devices like tear gas or pepper balls on protesters, journalists, and clergy as long as there wasn’t a threat to others. The order follows a lawsuit filed by a group of protesters, clergy and journalists who raised concerns about federal agents’ use of force on them during recent protests and immigration enforcement efforts.

Today, we lead with a Chicago Tribune editorial demanding that ICE turn on their body cams.44
“A Chicago High Schooler Had Just Returned From Chemotherapy. Then ICE Arrested Her Father”
That’s the headline out of Block Club Chicago, which reports on a high school girl, Ofelia Torres, who returned from 39 days of difficult chemotherapy for Stage 4 cancer at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
A day later, her dad, Ruben, a house painter who has lived in Chicago since 2003, was snatched by four masked gunmen in a Home Depot parking lot.
His attorney, Kalman Resnick, has filed an emergency motion arguing that due process wasn’t followed. According to the Block Club Chicago story:
Resnick’s filing argues that ICE is holding Ruben Torres under a new interpretation of immigration law rolled out by the Department of Homeland Security in July, which treats long-term residents who entered without inspection as “applicants for admission” subject to mandatory detention — a policy multiple courts around the country have found unlawful.
Like most abductees, Torres has no criminal record. The lie that the regime would only pursue those with criminal records grows fatter every day.
Why? It’s just easier for cowards in masks to cruise around Home Depot parking lots snatching innocent and hard-working people at gunpoint than do the difficult work of tracking down dangerous criminals. If you were a hapless ICE agent, would you want to face criminals with guns?
“Chicago Tribune Editorial: Turn on the cameras, ICE. What’s taking you so long?”

Todd Lyons, acting director, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Greg Bovino, chief patrol agent, El Centro Sector, U.S. Border Patrol, did write to this newspaper last month to take issue with one of our editorials and offer their view of events, which we duly published, but beyond that ICE has said little or nothing to reporters as it upends life as we knew it in Chicago. Local officials also tell us they are being kept in the dark.
To say that both ICE and the Border Patrol lack a commitment to transparency is to understate.
If there is a viable argument against the use of cameras by federal agents enforcing immigration law in our communities, we have not heard it.
And we’re not sympathetic to the line that the use of cameras takes a ton of training. In essence, agents attach a camera to their bodies and turn it on. Chicago’s police officers have been doing it for years in compliance with both departmental policy and state law.
Federal agents have claimed in court and elsewhere that some citizens aren’t just peacefully protesting but are interfering with their duties. Cameras, surely, would be helpful in sorting out what really has been happening.

Did ICE in Forest Park have a judicial warrant? They need one for private property. If they had one, all they should have had to do is SHOW it to the cemetery workers, who then should have let them in. No need to use bolt cutters. I'm guessing they didn't have one or refused to produce it.
