Here’s the Amazon blurb for Psalm of Vampires:

A fun, witty, and innovative contemporary fantasy adventure Kirkus Reviews

Meet Jade Mourning, a slightly neurotic but clever vampire whose line extends to Alexander the Great. Over the centuries, he’s survived vampire hunters, the bubonic plague, and the eccentricities of his friend Moreland (who may or may not be the mother of one of his children).

Jade is a gaming and streaming superstar who oversees a house full of male and female “influencers.” He has occasional flings with some of the influencers that live in his large Atlanta estate. He feeds off others when he needs some quick sustenance. It’s all very convenient for him until his world is shattered by a series of murders. To complicate things, he has suddenly found himself emotionally attached to his human FWB Daphne.

He is less enamored with another human, Atlanta PD’s Detective Standmoore Owens, who has identified Jade as a suspect in the murders. When Jade learns that Owens is a vampire hunter in a world that forgot about vampires a long time ago, they find themselves in a tense alliance as they uncover a larger menace that threatens humans and the world’s few remaining vampires with extinction.

As entire towns get wiped off the map from the emerging threat, Jade and his friends find themselves in Singapore, the home of Jade’s long-lost wife. There, they meet a geneticist and his two brilliant but goofy nephews as they race to understand the attacks and who is behind them.

As the world around him starts to cave in, Jade must also deal with emotions that are stirred up by his human love interest and the possibility that his wife may still be alive.

It’s hard enough to prevent an extinction event. But when you live the wild lifestyle of a vampire influencer who has an almost fatal attraction to humans, it becomes a dark comedy of errors. In the end, it’s Jade’s own humanity that holds the key to the fate of the world.

Trigger Warnings: Strong language, some graphic violence. Brief descriptions of grief involving pregnancy and child/family loss.

Consider Psalm of Vampires R-rated.

Publishers Weekly informs us that “Bastille’s debut artfully combines magic, technology, and romance.”

BookTrib wrote: “MagicLand features a mashup of names, settings, and character references from fantasies like The Hobbit, sci-fi pop cultural icons like Star Trek and even the Bible. Like most great fantasies, this one also has an element of fatalistic romance.”

The blurb for the novel:

A feel-good dystopian novel? Welcome to MagicLand.

On a future Earth where magic and technology have been at war for two thousand years, can one kiss change the fate of the world?

When a young actor from Gath, Belex, crash lands outside the magic land known as Moria, he’s rescued by a young Morian priestess in waiting, Aurilena. The two find themselves drawn impossibly towards each other in the midst of a war between two distinct species of humanoids: her people, the magicians of Moria, and his people, the Gath, whose tremendous intellectual and physical capabilities are programmed into their DNA.

Together, the two discover a terrible secret that lies at the heart of the centuries-old conflict between MagicLand and Gath. It’s a secret that leads to a kiss that could end the war once and for all. The only question is, will it end in brutal violence or give way to an improbable peace between implacable enemies? The answer to that question may depend on whether Aurilena can discover the true source of power behind her unique gifts before it’s too late.

Here’s the Amazon blurb for The Trial of Summary James :
A Great African Nation Has Risen in North America. But Something Is... Wrong.

Longman Jones has seen several visions of murders. The problem is that those convicted of the murders are never the killers Longman sees. When Summary James is tried and convicted for a murder he didn’t commit, Longman is determined to rescue him from the nation’s only prison.

The Trial of Summary James is a novella set within an alternative history involving a North America where the United States was never born, because the colonists lost the Revolutionary War, the British freed the slaves, and a massive migration from Africa and the Caribbean empowered Black and Native Americans to help build a nation called the Carolina Union in their image.

It is a very different world from ours that Longman Jones and his love interest, an empath named Sonata Holmes, discover one another. Their world may allow them to avoid the prejudices they’d face in ours, but they still must confront an evil which has found its way into the very structures of society that were designed to protect them. As the two face up to their enemy, they quickly realize that solving the crime is the easy part. The real challenge is confronting dark forces that seem to have no end in sight.

Restive Souls

This is an alternative history novel set in a North America where slaves were freed in the late 1700s and then formed a nation in the Carolina Low Country.
