Patrons of the arts allow creativity to flourish. Historically, the Medici family in Renaissance Italy sustained the work of Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci - and the world is better for it.

Instead of buying yet another yacht, billionaires could be supporting the arts. Wouldn't that be better for all of us?

It would definitely be better for me if I were one of the ones they supported. :-)

And yes, agreed on all points.

Your posts are a great example of why writers AND readers still matter. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and a peaceful new year. (And if you’ve yet to get to the DeKalb Farmers Market, do go!!! Although doing it before Christmas is great, even with the crowds. )

Thank you! Much appreciated. :-)

I still haven’t made my way to DeKalb Farmers Market! I have been meaning to. Happy New Year to you.

Thanks Charles. I’m a relatively new subscriber here, but I feel I’ve known you for a long time through “Susan Speaks”. I met Susan on Jeff Tiedrich’s Substack. We’ve become friends, and have gone to lunch several times. I travel vicariously through her, but I also became acquainted with you. It’s a win/win in my opinion because I need all the friends I can get. I hope you had a great holiday, I did.

Thank you. Mine was okay. Quiet. But that’s okay. I’m in recovery mode still. I plan on being more active soon… recovery seems pretty solid.

That’s fantastic about Susan. She and I have a lot in common in our backgrounds so we definitely click here. It’s great to get to know you, too. I hate to bring up the regime so often, but this is our superpower in the battle against the regime. Nice people outnumber the bad ones by about 10:1, in my opinion. We’re just quieter. They’ve awakened a giant, but when this is all over, I think many of us will gravitate towards building these relationships and fostering a more reasonable kind of discourse.

There I go with my optimism again, but I can’t seem to help myself.

I’m optimistic also, the WH now reeks of desperation. Anything that exposes more of the criminal enterprise that the felon is involved in, is great news for us.

I recognize the dementia because my dad died from Alzheimer’s in 1992, and I see the same symptoms in the felon. He is progressively deteriorating, and it won’t be too much longer until it’s “Weekend at Bernie’s”. We have a right to be optimistic.

Yes, i’ve been around dementia, too. I do think there’s a difference between Alzheimer’s and the kind of dementia Trump has. I thought this was a pretty good article. The only area I disagree a bit with this writer is that in trump’s case, it definitely is diminishing him — heck, he may have both:
