Thanks for sharing this. The AI-generated praise felt convincing at first glance, which makes this a great reminder to always verify before getting excited.

My parents had a “library”, a table with a shelf for books they kept, not library books. There were a couple that I read when I was too young to understand what I was reading, but they were classics. I read everything I could get my hands on.

I don’t read as much as I used to. My eyes are too messed up. The Kindle White has helped a LOT with that. But I still get tired very quickly, so the days of reading a couple of books a week are long gone.

I can’t imagine not being able to read whenever I wanted to, that’s a sad situation, I’m sorry you have that issue.

Thanks. Could be much worse. It's the result of a stroke. I'm thankful I'm not incapacitated or unable to think any longer.

The closest I get to writing is comments on Substacks. My personal talents run in other directions. I’m a reader. I’ve been one since I was five, and read my first Dick, Jane, and Spot book in kindergarten. From those I started looking at anything in the house I could read. My parents both had books in their hands every once in a while, but I read my mother’s magazine such as “FamilyCircle” and “Woman’s Home Companion”. From there I went to the library, and read anything the librarian allowed me to check out. I’m still at it. I read many Substacks, and books on my Kindle. I love books, but, due to arthritis in my hands can’t hold even paperbacks without pain. I’m so very grateful for my Kindle Fire because I can read without having to go to the library or book store.

Sounds a lot like my parents. I was also blessed with a bunch of old books they had of the classics. They contained amazing illustrations. That really got me reading. I didn’t understand a lot of what I was reading but the picture drew me in and I kept plowing through books like Dante’s Inferno and the Brothers Karamazov. And the Hardy Boys, of course, lol.
