The headline on the above photo says it all. BlueSky is sort of a Twitter replacement for progressives who felt compelled to leave Twitter after Elon Musk broke it.

They pushed and pushed and pushed for Tim Walz, Minnesota’s folksy progressive governor. One user last night posted, “Kamala to announce her choice for Vice President after she finishes reviewing our posts.”

Of course, that was a joke, but there was some truth to its essence. Kamala Harris desperately needs the progressive and youth vote that had disintegrated when Biden was the Democratic nominee.

Walz is the perfect foil to JD Vance, a stooge who pretends to associate with the working class and rural America but who is married to authoritarian-leaning tech bros like Peter Thiel and the ever-malevolent Winklevoss brothers.

Walz served six terms as a congress critter in the U.S. House of Representatives, so he’s no stranger to governance. He won his first term by beating an entrenched Republican. Walz did this as a high school social studies teacher. In other words, he is one of us. One of you. A politician who doesn’t come from money or Yale.

He jumped from teaching into politics because he saw how bad things were in his part of the country.

He was elected governor of Minnesota in 2018, winning by a comfortable 11-point margin. He relates to everybody, but he’ll relate especially well to the very people Trump needs most: Rural voters.

He enacted a slew of progressive legislation as governor in Minnesota, although he was considered a moderate Congressman. He also started the whole, “Republicans are weird,” vibe that has spread across the internet in recent days.

Kamala is proving to have good instincts. This bodes well for her presidency.

Trump, of course, was already terrified of Prosecutor Kamala. Now he’s got a social studies teacher who can speak the language of flyover America better than Trump can even imagine to. Trump is already on the attack in a series of desperate “tweets” on Truth Sociopath.

There are two remaining challenges to a landslide victory in November: Getting out the vote, and preventing Republicans from cheating. Still a lot of work to do, but things are looking up.
