Some of you are probably familiar with StoryOrigin. Many of my fiction subscribers come from there.

Last month, I created the first Group Promo I’ve made there in quite some time. Unlike a lot of promos, it wasn’t geared to any one type of sale or giveaway or what have you. It was an all-encompassing type of promo. I’m hoping that the lack of specificity was why there were only seven books signed up for it.

It was an experiment of sorts. I think I’ll repeat it when it expires on April 28. The experiment was this: Allow for any kind of promo, but include a requirement that participating authors pledge that they didn’t use AI to write their book.

I hate AI. So I’m going to try several more to see how it goes. That’s why I’m hoping the reason there weren’t a lot of books on this first NO AI promo was because of the lack of specificity. I’m hoping that StoryOrigin is not becoming a hotbed for AI, which seems to be everywhere these days.

This Month’s Promos

Once a month, I pass along promos from fellow Indie authors. If you’d like to participate, send me a DM or email or join my group promo (StoryOrigin account needed). The requirement for this group promo is no AI. All types of promos are eligible.

Note that this is not an affiliate program. Nobody gets any extra cash by participating. It’s just a way to help get eyeballs. Note also that I don’t review any of these books. I’m merely passing along the information.

This month’s individual promos…

"The Red Frontier: Book 1 of The Red Tomorrow Series"

by Joseph Cruz

2023 Firebird Award Winner for Epic Fiction 2023

JM Northern Media Halloween Book Festival First Place Winner for Science Fiction

Book cover art by Stephen Youll (A Game of Thrones, Dune)

Dive headfirst into the mystifying future, where the red planet's fate hangs in the balance. Raymond Redmin, a doctor from the 21st century, confronts the startling unknown when he wakes up aboard a ship plummeting towards an unrecognizable terraformed Mars.

Ever imagined a world cut off from a now-silent Earth? Where Mars, the once barren land, now thrives with life, civilization, and a touch of the arcane? Mars has evolved, and so has its society. Forged in the fires of endless wars and now shielded under the enlightened reign of the Zeltan Kingdom— a noble society of genetically engineered superhumans. But the sudden crash of Raymond's ship seems to be the prologue of a looming storm. Every faction, every face, every shadow of the Red Frontier seems drawn to it.

Join Raymond as he joins a group of heroes from across the new tomorrow. By his side: a brave young woman from the Frontier's deserts, a squad of battle-ready super-soldiers, benevolent androids, a quick-drawing cowboy, and a robotic fox companion. Together, they embark on a quest laced with adrenaline, emotion, and mystery. Their mission: safeguard the ship's futuristic technology from those who'd misuse it.

Embark on this action-packed journey through diverse terraformed landscapes. Face off against sinister cyborg pirates, confront eerily experimental undead, and brave the monstrous inhabitants of the dark forests. Not to mention the exo-mechs, giant piloted war machines, showing that courage can amplify power. Prepare for battles, brace for thrills, and believe in a brighter red tomorrow. Dive in and decide: Is Dr. Raymond Redmin, out of his time, the savior Mars didn’t know it needed?

The Red Tomorrow awaits, are you ready?

"Any Given Doomsday"

by Books+Coffee=Happiness Blog & PA

Humanity’s last hope is… a combat sports champion?

In the wake of humanity’s great expansion across the stars, war was a thing of the past, and its armies and navies were disbanded. Disputes were settled by the ancient practice of trial by combat in the Gladius Leagues, where elite athletes clad in advanced powered armor fought in front of millions. Their motto was, “We fight so others don’t have to.”

Nick “Warhorse” Landry, star Field Commander of the Foundry Warhawks, was content to live by that code—until everything changed. His home planet fell under a terrifying alien invasion while he was light years away. But when the invasion reaches his current system, humanity has a defense.

Unfortunately, that defense is Warhorse and his team of prima donna athletes. They’re stars of the arena, but they’re woefully unprepared for real war. With the guidance of the last surviving general from the Expansion Wars, these sports heroes are thrust into a battle for survival, and they’ll have to learn fast, or humanity faces total extinction.

Will Warhorse and his crew rise to the occasion—or fall in the final battle for humanity’s future?

If you love high-octane military sci-fi packed with powered armor, explosive action, and a touch of NFL swagger mixed with WWE bravado, Any Given Doomsday is an action-packed adventure you won’t want to miss.
